Eggy Car Coins & Upgrades: Complete Guide to Every Upgrade

March 19, 2026 ยท 8 min read

Coins are the engine of progress in Eggy Car. Every upgrade that makes your car smoother, faster, and more egg-friendly runs through the coin system. But coins don't collect themselves โ€” and spending them in the wrong order can leave you stuck with a car that's harder to control than the default.

How Coins Work in Eggy Car

Coins appear as collectibles scattered along the terrain during each run. You drive over them to collect them automatically โ€” no button press required. They accumulate across runs, so even short runs contribute to your total.

There's no penalty for dying. Every coin you collect in a run is permanently added to your balance, even if the egg falls off two seconds later.

Key coin mechanics:

  • Coins are permanent โ€” they carry over between runs
  • You can spend coins at any time from the upgrade menu
  • Upgrades are permanent โ€” you never lose them
  • There's no "wrong" upgrade to buy, but there is a wrong order

How to Collect Coins Efficiently

Collect on Flat Sections Only

The safest coin collection happens on flat terrain where you have full control of the car. On hills, bumps, and jumps, chasing coins disrupts your speed and balance โ€” often causing crashes that end the run entirely.

Rule: If a coin requires any change in speed or direction to collect, leave it. A long, stable run collects more coins than a short, coin-chasing run.

Prioritize Survival Over Collection

A run that ends at 200m with 5 coins collected is worse than a run that reaches 1,000m with 15 coins collected. The longer you survive, the more coins you accumulate โ€” even if you're not actively chasing them.

Use the Coin Magnet Upgrade

Once you've invested in the core survival upgrades, the Coin Magnet upgrade automatically attracts nearby coins without requiring you to drive directly over them. This passive collection dramatically increases your coin rate on longer runs without adding any risk.

Every Upgrade Explained

1. Suspension โญโญโญโญโญ

What it does: Reduces how much the egg bounces when the car goes over bumps, hills, and rough terrain.

Why it matters: The egg's bouncing is the primary cause of death in Eggy Car. With default suspension, even small bumps send the egg wobbling dangerously. With upgraded suspension, the same bumps barely register.

When to buy: First. Always first. Don't spend coins on anything else until suspension is maxed.

2. Engine โญโญโญโญ

What it does: Improves the car's acceleration response, making it more precise and controllable.

Why it matters: A sluggish engine makes it harder to make small speed adjustments โ€” the kind you need constantly in Eggy Car.

When to buy: Second, after suspension is fully upgraded.

3. Coin Magnet โญโญโญ

What it does: Automatically attracts coins within a certain radius, collecting them without requiring you to drive directly over them.

Why it matters: On longer runs, coins are spread across the terrain in positions that would require risky detours to collect manually.

When to buy: Third, after suspension is maxed and engine has its first few levels.

Best Upgrade Order: Beginners

  1. Suspension โ€” Level 1 (immediate impact on egg stability)
  2. Suspension โ€” Level 2
  3. Suspension โ€” Level 3 (max it out)
  4. Engine โ€” Level 1
  5. Engine โ€” Level 2
  6. Coin Magnet โ€” Level 1
  7. Engine โ€” Level 3 (max it out)
  8. Coin Magnet โ€” Level 2+ (max it out)

Best Upgrade Order: High Score Runs

  1. Suspension โ€” Max (non-negotiable)
  2. Engine โ€” Max (precise control matters more at high distances)
  3. Coin Magnet โ€” Max (passive income for sustained long runs)

Common Upgrade Mistakes

  • Buying engine before suspension. The engine makes the car faster โ€” but if the egg is still bouncing uncontrollably, speed makes things worse. Suspension first, always.
  • Skipping the coin magnet. Players who skip the coin magnet often find themselves grinding short runs for coins long after they should have moved on.
  • Spending coins on cosmetics early. Cosmetic upgrades are fun, but they have zero impact on gameplay. Save them for after you've maxed all functional upgrades.
  • Waiting to upgrade until you "need" it. Upgrade as soon as you have the coins. There's no benefit to hoarding coins.

The Upgrade Loop

Once you understand the system, Eggy Car's upgrade loop becomes clear:

Survive longer โ†’ Collect more coins โ†’ Buy upgrades โ†’ Survive even longer

Each upgrade makes the next run a little easier, which makes the next upgrade a little faster. The early game feels slow, but once suspension is maxed, the pace of improvement accelerates significantly.

Start with suspension. Max it out. Everything else follows.
